October 8 "World Palliative Care Day".
Saturday was World Palliative Care Day, a very special day for all those families who have been able to count on their support and accompaniment during the illness and in such a difficult and painful moment as the end of life of a loved one.
From Asociación Anita we take care that children and teenagers with cancer have the best possible care and quality of life, so we have been collaborating with the Palliative and Complex Chronic Care Unit of Sant Joan de Déu hospital for years. In 2020 we financed its maintenance, in 2021 we started the Music Therapy project at home and now we are about to start a new Telemedicine project that will allow this fantastic team to cope with the increase that has been occurring over the years in home care, from 200 annual visits have gone to more than 1,100. We have yet to incorporate home physiotherapy and Art Therapy, hopefully in 2023 we get it!
Last week we delivered the third check to finance the project of TELEMEDICINE FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF HOME CARE FOR ONCOLOGY PATIENTS WITH PALLIATIVE NEEDS, which is about to be launched and will be able to implement a telemedicine system that allows the professionals of the unit to interact remotely with the patient and the family, as well as monitoring the patient at home. In this way, through videoconferencing, it will be possible to contact at any time of the day and provide support to the care team at home, improving care at all times.
This new innovative project aims at the digital transformation of this Palliative Care Unit through the incorporation of a humanized technological solution to ensure a better pediatric patient experience, being able to monitor their condition in real time, while allowing them to be in their familiar ecosystem, and therefore, in a comfort zone that empowers them and improves their quality of life.
Millions of thanks to all the people who support us and help us with their donations and initiatives to finance all these projects!!!!
